Laurel Buys Houses reviews on Google, Yelp and the BBB

Who publishes this: Pacific Home Buyers, a Sacramento cash home buyer. We compete with the companies on this site, so every fact here comes from a public record or the company's own site, and we say which.

Laurel Buys Houses gets good reviews everywhere we looked, just not equally good. In early November 2026 it had 4.8 stars from 152 Google reviews and 4.2 stars from 19 Yelp reviews. The Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ and shows no complaints in the past three years. Most of the gap between Google and Yelp comes from four one-star reviews on a small sample.

Laurel Buys Houses: how many reviews each site has

The BBB counts customer reviews separately from its A+ letter grade.

Don't read the BBB's A+ as a star score. The BBB says the letter grade draws on things like complaint history, transparency and time in business, and that it doesn't use customer reviews to calculate the grade (how BBB ratings work). So the A+ and the nine customer reviews are two separate things.

Why Yelp is lower than Google

Yelp lists 19 reviews. Going by the length of Yelp's own rating bars, 15 are five stars and 4 are one star, with nothing in between. That's 79 points across 19 reviews, about 4.16, which Yelp rounds to 4.2.

Take those four one-star reviews away and the Yelp average would be a flat 5.0. On Google, four bad reviews out of 152 would barely show. On a site with 19, each one counts for a lot, so the Yelp number tells you more about the sample size than about the company.

What the Yelp reviews say

They mostly say what the Google reviews say: the sale was easy and people felt they were dealt with honestly.

The review we'd read first is a complaint. In November 2023 a Yelp reviewer wrote that a chat agent on the company's website asked what they thought their house was worth. In December the same reviewer posted an update. Laurel had called to apologize, told them she checks how her staff handle new inquiries, and explained the training she was putting in place. A seller can learn more from that follow-up than from another five-star review.

How to read reviews of a cash buyer

  1. Put two sites next to each other. When they disagree, look at how many reviews each has before deciding which to believe.
  2. Go straight to the lowest ratings and see how the owner answered.
  3. Check the dates. A glowing review from 2019 says little about who picks up the phone today.
  4. Ask who wrote it. A homeowner who sold, someone who bought a flipped house and an agent on the other side of a deal are all reviewing different things.
  5. On the BBB, open the complaints instead of trusting the letter.
